The Velocity 220 Bay boasts speedboat heritage with its 22-degree deadrise hull, but its main mission is to get you to the bay-style angling fast, and in comfort. Velocity keeps the captain and main passenger content with “Comfort Helm,” which has a pair of flip-up bolsters that lets you stand tall, lean back, sit down, and otherwise adjust your back support and legroom. The other passengers aboard will enjoy the flip-up jump seats built into the aft casting deck, and the forward console seat. Comfort and peace of mind is great, but catching fish is even better. The 220 Bay comes with a pair of lighted 10-gallon live wells, a pair of seven-foot locking rod lockers, a pair of under-gunwale rod racks, and a tackle station built into the back of the leaning post. That tackle station is a lot more substantial than most found on boats of this size, with four slide-in tackle boxes and gobs of bulk stowage. After sliding the net under the catch, you can chill it down in any one of the three integrated fish boxes. Fly guys will particularly like the forward casting deck, since it has a molded toe-kick raised around the edges and the flip-up cleats sit flush until you need them. Other standard equipment includes things like a jack plate, a four-speaker stereo system, a tilt wheel, and cockpit lights. With a 200-hp Mercury on the transom the 220 Bay pops onto plane in 2.5 seconds and can hit a top-end of about 60 MPH. Hull draft is still just one foot which means you’ll have no trouble sneaking into those tight cuts and back-water hot-spots. And yeah—you will look good and be comfortable, while doing it.
